Picnic On A Boat
Over the weekend, we got invited by Go Boat London to try one of their dog friendly self-drive boats. Its the first and currently the only self-drive boating service in London. Since we had never quite explored the London canals before, we jumped at the opportunity. Each boat accommodates up to eight human/hounds. So we decided to invite our friends along with their one year old pup Dash and made a proper picnic out of it. We brought along some bubbly and plenty of snacks for both humans and hounds. (There is some alcohol restriction, which can be found on their website.)
The pick up point is at Paddington, where we were explained how to manoeuvre the boat, which is pretty simple and straightforward. We had taken the two hour long ride, which took us through Little Venice, ZSL Zoo up to FengShang (a floating Chinese restaurant). Since we took a lot of pictures and went pretty slow, we couldn't make it all the way up to Camden Locke, but you could take the three hour ride if you wanted to go further and at a slower pace. The route is very picturesque and pretty - you get to see some colourful charming boats parked on the sides and some gorgeous mansions along the canal.
The pups thoroughly enjoyed their boat ride. For Ari, this was his first time on a boat and he seemed quite fascinated and on the edge at the beginning. But he soon relaxed (most likely at the sight of snackies being opened) and started enjoying the ride.
The staff was very friendly and handed us blankets and maps for our ride. Overall, this was a great outing and we highly recommend it! It will definitely get you brownie points from family and friends for booking a fun outing!
